    Israel attacks Gaza Strip
    Las Vegas Herald
    Saturday 31st July, 2010

The Israeli military has attacked parts of the Gaza Strip in response to rocket fire on Friday.
The Israel Defense Forces have begun retaliating to rocket fire from Gaza, launching a series of airstrikes late Friday for the first time in a year.

The attacks killed a Hamas commander, and wounded thirteen people, several of them seriously.

The airstrikes were in response to a rocket attack on the town of Ashkelon earlier on Friday. There were no injuries although parked cars and windows in a nearby apartment building were damaged in that attack.

The first airstrike by Israel destroyed a runway near the compound of the late Yasser Arafat. The airstrip and compound are now occupied by Hamas, the elected authority in Gaza.

Ashkelon is located around 10 kilometres (6 miles) from the Gaza border.

Its population of 125,000 has been targeted by rocket fire in the past, although no fatalities have been recorded.

Israel launches airstrikes on Gaza following rocket attack

good ole 'Eye for an Eye' that old favourite human out cry that dates all the way back to the caveman.. Without some modern dialog or hope for the future, both sides have nothing to lose

    Ashkelon is NOT

Ashkelon is deep inside the 1948 Israel borders, and is not a settlement. Please look at a map next time before you write a story. The rocket attack on the Israeli civilians in Ashkelon is a war crime and a crime against humanity, 100% illegal under international law. Randomly shooting a rocket into a town of civilians, full of defenseless Israeli women and children is just another in a long line of Palestinian war crimes.

its better to eliminate all palestinians. they dont like peace at all, and are trouble makers. show them no mercy since. other muslim nations should not condemn israel since the palestinians were the ones who first provoke the israelis and were being countered back with air strikes. they dont even care whether the rocket fire kills or injures children and women, so why care for their well being. they deserved to be taken off the face of the earth.

Amazing dude. You put those blinkers on all by yourself didn’t you? What a good boy you are. Firing a rocket into Israel is a war crime yes, but lets be honest, Hamas engages in terrorism and Israel does as well and they both get away with it.
