RACE INFORMATION
Pre-registration and packet pickup from 5-9 PM on Friday, August 1, at The Savoy Restaurant, 255 E. Dominick St., Rome. Jazz Along the Mohawk will be happening there as well. Enjoy! Pre-registered riders can also pick up their packets at registration on Saturday.
Directions to The Savoy – Exit Thruway at Exit 33 (Verona) and proceed east on Route 365 toward Rome. Bear left onto Route 49. Cross the bridge and after the light bear right toward Route 46 north. At the light turn right onto East Dominick Street and head east toward Savoy, one block down on the left.
Stage 1 – Criterium -- Saturday, August 2, 2003
Race Location: Criterium around Fort Stanwix in Downtown Rome, NY. S/F line will be on East Dominick St., across from Rome City Hall.
Course description: From East Dominick Street, proceed east and turn left onto North James Street, Right onto Park, left onto Church, left onto Court, left onto Washington St, right onto Liberty St., left onto George St. and left onto East Dominick back to S/F line. Course is approximately one mile long and closed to traffic.
Parking: Tops Plaza on Erie Blvd., Rome. Directions: Exit Thruway at Exit 33 (Verona) and proceed east on Route 365 toward Rome. Bear left onto Route 49. Cross the bridge and after first light bear left toward Route 69, crossing railroad tracks and going through two more lights. Tops will be on your left at the fourth light.
Registration and Sign-in: Parking lot on the corner of N. James St. and Erie Blvd. Registration will open at 7:30 AM and will close a half hour before each race.
RIDERS MUST SIGN IN BOTH DAYS. Sunday’s sign-in will be at the TT start.
Wheel Pit: Located just before the S/F line on East Dominic Street
Rider Numbers: Numbers must be worn on the right side of the body for both criterium and time trial. Number must not be trimmed or folded. Please do not wrinkle your number.
Staging: Riders must report to the staging (S/F) area at least five minutes before the start to hear last minute announcements.
Awards: Criterium awards and Race Leader’s Jerseys will be given for each category as soon as the results have been finalized.

Stage 2 – 15 mile point to point Time Trial -- Sunday, August 3, 2003
The time trial is a point to point race, starting at the Herkimer Marina on the Erie Canal and ending at the Utica Marina.
Course Description: From the starting ramp at the Herkimer Marina make a right onto Mohawk Street (Route 28), take the bridge over the Canal and take a right onto Route 5S West for approximately 14 miles. At the light at Route 5S and Broad Street turn right onto Broad Street and then bear right onto Genesee Street North. From this point it is one mile to the finish at the Utica Marina. Much of Route 5S is a four-lane highway, but is a designate bike route.
Directions to the start: Thruway to Exit 30 (Herkimer). After the toll booths proceed straight across Mohawk Street into the Herkimer Marina.
Directions to the finish: Thruway to Exit 31 (Utica). After toll booths go straight onto ramp for Genesee Street South. Proceed south, and immediately look for right hand turn for Utica Marina.
It has been suggested by the race officials that all support crew for racers travel the Thruway between Marinas.
During the time trial PLEASE stay to the Right on Route 5S. The road will be open to traffic but marshaled by police and USCF officials.
Time Trial Start times: First rider starts at 9 AM, at one minute intervals.

Start times will be posted after Saturday’s event at The Savoy, 255 East Dominick Street, Rome, 315-339-3166. Start times will also be posted at the sign-in area at the start on Sunday morning.
Awards: Awards for TT and Final GC will be given as soon as all riders have finished and results are finalized.
Food: Start area: Waterfront Grill, at the Herkimer Marina Finish area: Kitty’s on the Canal, at the Utica Marina, plus several fast food restaurants on Genesee Street.
Maxxis Upstate NY Cycling Cup points will be awarded based on final GC, not individual stage results.
